Bear Necessitites Volume 35
Last week, marked a truly historic moment in the life of the Catholic Church and our school community came together in a beautiful and memorable way to witness this event.
When the white smoke rose from the Vatican, signaling the election of our new pope, I received an email from Ms. Flaherty inviting faculty and staff to join her class as they livestreamed the announcement. By the next passing period, four classes had gathered, joined by several faculty and staff members, creating an exciting atmosphere.
Together, we watched as the Swiss Guard and ceremonial bands led a procession onto the balcony. The anticipation was palpable as the red curtains parted, revealing Pope Leo XIV. It was a powerful moment of unity, tradition, and faith. Our Campus Minister, Ms. Simonetti, translated the Holy Father's first remarks for our students, helping us all to appreciate the gravity and hope of this new chapter in Church history.
This experience reminded me of the deep roots and enduring traditions that shape our faith, and it was truly special to share it with our students. Moments like this go beyond the classroom or the field they help form the heart of who we are as a Catholic school.
I am excited for what lies ahead under Pope Leo XIV's leadership, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to witness this historic event together as a school community.
