Bear Necessities Volume 34
On Friday and Saturday, the Mercy Swim Team traveled to Sacred Heart Prep in Atherton for the culminating meet of the season: the WBAL Trials and Finals. Despite facing multiple challenges this year the team delivered a strong performance, finishing 7th overall in the league, an impressive result for a determined squad.
Over the two-day meet, several Mercy swimmers advanced to finals and scored key points for the team. Even more athletes achieved personal bests and contributed to relay events, showcasing the depth, growth, and spirit of this resilient group.
As always, the energy at Trials and Finals was high, with races moving quickly and coaches working hard to keep athletes informed and ready behind the blocks. Between monitoring events and supporting teammates, the Bears brought their enthusiasm rotating between our team tents and the end of the lanes to cheer on one another. Along the way, I also discovered a fun team fact: Mercy Swim is a big fan of King's Hawaiian Sweet Rolls, and thanks to our amazing swim parents, there was always a fresh supply at meets.
Amid the competition, the team also took time to celebrate its six graduating seniors many of whom have been part of the program since their freshman year. These athletes have given so much to the team, and their leadership and commitment helped guide the Bears through a challenging and rewarding season.
The season's success is a testament to the dedication of all our swimmers, and our coaches. A special Thank you to our coaches for their amazing leadership and flexibility throughout the season and keeping our team focused and improving.
