Bear Necessities Volume 13
Last Tuesday our Varsity Volleyball was in the first round of the CIF NorCal Regional Championships at Folsom High School. It was a night filled with incredible energy, sportsmanship, and I couldn't be more proud of how the team represented our community. This season has been nothing short of historic. Our girls went undefeated in WBAL League play, claiming the title, and this was our first year competing in the Open Division of the CCS Tournament. For the NorCal Regional, we moved into Division 1, another major milestone for the program. It's a testament to the hard work and dedication that this team has shown all year.
Tuesday's match was a thrilling one. The atmosphere was electric, with both teams battling, exchanging sets, and energizing their fan bases. The game was full of momentum shifts, with each team playing at an incredibly high level. One bystander even commented on how the team looked like they were enjoying the moment, having fun together on court. To me that is one of the greatest compliments given. Their joy in supporting each other, celebrating every ace, kill, and block, and lifting each other up throughout the match. That camaraderie and enthusiasm are a big part of what makes this team so special.
The match went back and forth through four intense sets, with Folsom ultimately taking the win in the fifth and final set, 15-12. While the outcome wasn't what we had hoped for, the team's effort, resilience, and sportsmanship were on full display. It's moments like these that remind me why we are so fortunate to have such an outstanding group of student-athletes. This team has exceeded all expectations, and they continue to set a high standard for future seasons. They've demonstrated not just skill, but also the grace and integrity that align with our Mercy Mission. Every time they stepped on the court, they showed the true spirit of the game. I am incredibly grateful for all the energy, effort, and heart our players put into this season, and I am so proud of the way they represent our community.
