Bear Necessities Volume 12
Last Friday I had an incredible opportunity to experience the community within our Cross Country Program and I was inspired by our athletes, our coaches, and our families. Cross Country is a unique sport, a shared journey of growth and support and that was on display from all the Bears in attendance. There is a cadence to Cross Country meets that is always impressive to see especially so at the WBAL Championships. I was huddled up with a few other Athletic Directors and after the start we stayed anchored in our position to cheer on our athletes as they made their way back up the hill. After the last runner made their way up, we watched as coaches and parents ran to their designated spots on the course for encouragement and support. As the team finished we gathered around our tent for a touching tribute to our three seniors. Each senior was greeted with flowers, a necklace, and a speech from their teammates. The girls celebrated with sweet treats and each others company recognizing this was their last time on that course. It's clear that these three seniors have not only contributed to the success of the team but have also impacted their teammates in meaningful ways over the years and are the heart and soul of the team.
